The Environmental Quality Board will hold a virtual meeting on June 16 to consider a recommendation from DEP to delist leachate as hazardous waste from two waste treatment facilities made as a result of a rulemaking petition submitted by MAX Environmental.

The facilities are the Bulger Facility in Washington County [petition] which accepts drill cuttings, contaminated soils from remediation sites, air pollution control dusts, sludges and other wastes and the Yukon Facility in Westmoreland County [petition] that treats and disposes of residual waste from energy, construction, remediation and manufacturing processes.

DEP evaluations for the Bulger Facility [evaluation] and the Yukon Facility [evaluation] found the waste from the treatment facilities no longer meets the requirements as a hazardous waste.

The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m.  Instructions for joining the meeting are posted at the EQB meeting webpage.
