Join Dave Arscott, president of Stroud Water Research Center, and Bob Irvin, president of American Rivers, as they introduce the 2020 River of the Year-- the Delaware River-- in a four-part webinar series starting July 21 starting at 1:00 p.m. This series will kick off with an introduction to how science helps to guide policy to ensure the health of our freshwater systems. Featured speakers will be Ted Illston, senior director of policy and government relations at American Rivers, and John Jackson, senior research scientist at the Stroud Center. On April 15, the Delaware River received national recognition as River of the Year by American Rivers. Click Here to watch a video of the recognition. American Rivers gave the Delaware this honor to recognize its momentous progress for water quality, river restoration and community revitalization. Key to this success are the countless local individuals and groups who have worked for decades on the river’s behalf. The progress on the Delaware illustrates the power of partnership and collaboration. Millions of people rely on clean drinking water from the Delaware River, in our region and downstream in New York City and Philadelphia. “The Delaware River is a national success story,” said Bob Irvin, President and CEO of American Rivers. “The River of the Year honor recognizes the hard work of many local advocates who understand that a healthy Delaware River is vital to the health of millions of people. The Delaware shows how a healthy river can be an engine for thriving communities.” Click Here to register for the July 21 webinar.
