Rain Barrel/Watershed Workshops Set in Pittsburgh Area

The Pennsylvania Resources Council has scheduled four rain barrel workshops in the Pittsburgh area where participants will learn how to harvest rainwater from your own roof, store it and use it in your landscape.

Upcoming Workshops:

· Whole Foods Market (Shadyside)- August 31- 6:30 p.m.

· The Urban Gardener on Pittsburgh’s North Side - September 16-10 a.m.

· CCI Center on Pittsburgh’s South Side –September 26-6:30 p.m.

· Whitehall Borough Building –Saturday, October 14– 9:30 p.m.

Take advantage of this free source of water while at the same time contributing to improved water quality in our rivers and streams and reducing your contribution to combined sewer overflow and polluted urban runoff.

PRC’s Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel Workshop will demonstrate how to assemble and install a retrofitted 55-gallon drum/rain barrel, and offer other rainwater harvesting options. Participants will receive the necessary hardware to assemble and install a rain barrel for rainwater harvesting and on-site usage.

The cost is $30 for nonmembers.
