The Walk In Penn’s Woods initiative to showcase the diversity of the state’s woodland resources will expand to the full month of October in 2020. Walk in Penn’s Woods usually features organized woods walks in each county designed to help build appreciation for forests, the people who own them, and the importance of caring well for them. This year, Walk in Penn’s Woods invites you to create your own woodland adventure. Visit the Find a Woodland Adventure webpage for a growing collection of opportunities to enjoy Penn’s Woods throughout the month. The page also features StoryMaps, information for trails to hike in a variety of counties across the state, virtual tours of unique Penn’s Woods forests, and links to State Parks and partners that are continuing to offer formal woodland adventures. The new format is designed to keep all our friends and partners safe, while still enabling the public to learn more about and appreciate Penn’s Woods, and are working towards creative ways to do so. Fundraising Campaign The Walk In Penn’s Woods is now holding its annual fundraising campaign to help support advertising and the resources needed to get people out to enjoy Penn’s Woods in October.
