1st Annual Great Plastic Purge Of Lower Susquehanna River Set For Oct. 31, Nov. 7
|
On October 31 and November 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association and partners including the Penn State Master Watershed Stewards of York, Lancaster, Lebanon and Dauphin Counties, Watershed Alliance of York and York County Coalition for Clean Waters will be hosting the 1st Annual Plastic Purge of the Lower Susquehanna. This large-scale cleanup will take place around Lake Clarke on the Susquehanna River on both sides of the River and everywhere in between. Lake Clarke is a 10 mile reservoir or "Lake" formed by the hydroelectric Safe Harbor Dam. Plastics, tires, litter and other debris continue to get flushed into the Susquehanna River so we will be doing our part to clean up and help protect our downstream neighbors, aquatic and avian species. They will have registration tables and trash containers at the Lock 2 Lower Boat Ramp in York County and also at the Blue Rock Boat Launch in Lancaster. Click here to register or for more information. Questions should be directed to Ted at 717-478-1780 or lowsusriver@hotmail.com or Jeff at 717-495-2015 or jdmiller89@gmail.com. More Cleanups The 2020 Pick Up Pennsylvania Initiative is running now through November 30 to help groups organize cleanups in their communities and to help volunteers find cleanups near them..
