DCNR 2nd Fall Foliage Report: 15 Counties Already At Best Color
Photo

On September 24, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources issued its second weekly Fall Foliage Report for October 1 to 7 showing 15 counties now are at their best color.  New reports will be issued every Thursday.

Cold and frosty nights and very dry conditions have ushered in marked changes across the northern tier, where foliage is at its spectacular peak. Sugar and red maples are the stars of the show, contrasting beautifully with the still-green oak canopies.

Another cold snap could jumpstart much of the Appalachian and Allegheny mountain regions, setting the table for back to back weeks of fantastic fall foliage viewing opportunities across wide swaths of the commonwealth.

The report includes specific reports from DCNR foresters in regions across the state.

Visitors can get suggestions about the best spots to view fall foliage on the Penn’s Woods Fall Foliage story map and on the Pennsylvania Tourism Office website.
