Senate/House Bills Moving Last Week

The following bills of interest saw action last week in the House and Senate—

House

Exemptions From Drinking Water Standards: House Bill 707 (Zimmerman-R-Lancaster) which would exempt any facility owned by a church or an association of churches, including schools, daycare centers and camps, from the need to meet Safe Drinking Water Act clean drinking water standards was amended and reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and Tabled.  Read more here.

Recycling Solar Panels In A Broken E-Waste Program: House Bill 2197 (Dush-R-Clearfield) which would add solar panels-- “photovoltaic modules”-- to the state’s Electronic Waste Recycling Program-- Covered Device Recycling Act--  requiring manufacturers to support recycling programs that collect solar panels for recycling was reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and Tabled.  Read more here.

Anthracite Coal Tax Act:  House Bill 2002 (Kaufer-R-Luzerne) eliminating the obsolete Anthracite Coal Tax Act was reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and Tabled.

Air Quality Fees: House Concurrent Regulatory Review Resolution #3 (Metcalfe-R-Butler) which would prevent the publication of final Environmental Quality Board regulations increasing DEP Air Quality Program fees was reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the Calendar for action.  Read more here.

Vehicle Emissions Inspection: Senate Bill 745 (Stefano-R-Fayette) attempting to make changes to state Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program was amended and reported from the House Transportation Committee and Tabled.
