Senate/House Bills Moving Last Week

The following bills of interest saw action last week in the House and Senate-- Senate AQTAC Appointments: Senate Bill 1173 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) changing appointments on DEP’s Air Quality Technical Advisory Committee from the Governor to appointments made by the House, Senate and the Governor was reported out of the Senate Appropriations and passed by the Senate on a party-line vote. The bill now goes to the House for action. Pipeline Emergency Plans: House Bill 2293 (Quinn-R- Delaware) that requires pipeline companies to make emergency response plans available to the Public Utility Commission, the PA Emergency Management Agency and county emergency management director where the pipeline is located [Read more here] was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Lame Duck Budget: Senate Bill 1350 (Browne-R-Lehigh) one legislative vehicle for the FY 2020-21 state budget was reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee by a party-line vote-- Republicans supporting, Democrats opposing because it did not deal with a variety of urgent COVID-related issues or the remainder of the FY 2020-21 budget-- and then reported back into the Committee again. |
