The federal Drug Enforcement Administration October 24 National Prescription Drug Take Back Day provides a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Unwanted and expired medications, both prescription (non-controlled, controlled substances) and over-the-counter, in tablet, capsule, ointment, inhaler, powder, cream, or patch form can be disposed of at participating locations. [No sharps or needles.] Drop Off Locations The state Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs helps maintain permanent prescription drug drop-off boxes throughout Pennsylvania.
