PA Organization For Watersheds & Rivers Hosts Virtual Wild & Scenic Film Festival, On Tour March 18

The PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers cannot think of a more fitting way to mark 12 extraordinary months than with an event that celebrates resilience, community, and the capacity of nature to amaze, inspire, and heal-- The Wild & Scenic Film Festival, On Tour!

On March 18, POWR will host The Wild & Scenic Film Festival, On Tour, virtually and invites you to join your colleagues, friends, and family to enjoy an evening of films from the brand new 2021 line-up-- films that celebrate the beauty and wonder of our natural world and inspire audiences everywhere to seek out ways to enjoy and take action to protect it.

The festival is a more lighthearted yet meaningful expression of the spirit of POWR’s work to empower the people who volunteer and work on behalf of shared waterways.

Across the state, dedicated, passionate citizen champions collaborate with local, state, and federal partners to restore and conserve Pennsylvania’s waterways, watersheds, trails, and open spaces.

Celebrate their efforts and demonstrate support for these local advocates and for POWR by attending this Wild & Scenic Film Festival, On Tour event from the comfort and safety of your home.

To ensure the health and wellbeing of attendees, POWR has postponed until the late fall its biennial statewide conference that would have brought together Pennsylvania’s community watershed organizations to share and celebrate their successes.

“However,” said Tali MacArthur, Program Manager for POWR, “while we cannot meet in person, we can come together on this night in March to be reminded why this work is so critical, to consider what we risk losing, and to be inspired to carry on with the important task of stewarding and advocating on behalf of Pennsylvania’s water resources.”

The Wild & Scenic Film Festival was started by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League in 2003. The festival’s namesake is in celebration of SYRCL’s landmark victory to receive “Wild & Scenic” status for 39 miles of the South Yuba River in 1999.

The international film tour brings award winning nature films to communities around the globe. The festival helps to build a network of grassroots organizations connected by a common goal of using film to inspire activism.

With the support of National Partners: Peak Design, EarthJustice, Klean Kanteen, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, the festival can reach an even larger audience.
