DCNR Accepting Comments On Proposed Land Exchange In Juniata County

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources invited comments on a proposed land exchange between the Mifflintown Municipal Authority and DCNR in Milford Township, Juniata County. (formal notice) The purpose of the proposed exchange is to provide additional space for the expansion and construction of a new Tuscarora State Forest maintenance headquarters. The exchange would involve 4 acres currently owned by the Mifflintown Municipal Authority, in Milford Township, Juniata County which is adjacent to the East Licking Creek Maintenance Division Headquarters, Tuscarora State Forest, for an equivalent valued parcel of 12 acres of the Tuscarora State Forest just to the West and also in Milford Township, Juniata County. The Mifflintown Municipal Authority would reserve the right to harvest timber, in accordance with the best management practices set forth in the Best Management Practices for Pennsylvania Forests: Promoting forest stewardship through education, cooperation, and voluntary action, as published and amended by the Penn State Extension, on the property to be conveyed to the Department for a period of 1 year.
