The Western PA Conservancy and Grow Pittsburgh are now accepting applications for material support for community food gardens in Allegheny County.

Round 1 applications will be accepted until April 1.  Round 2 applications will be accepted from July 1 to August 1.

Community food gardens managed by schools and various community and nonprofit organizations can now apply to receive seeds, compost, tools, fencing or technical assistance.

The majority of applications awarded are under $1,000.  On a rarer occasion, we will fund projects between $1,000 and $5,000, but they do ask for more detailed information in the application including but not limited to a more specific proposed budget, images or design sketches of the project, and a detailed materials list. 

This fund provides materials and consultation.  Requested materials will be purchased by Grow Pittsburgh or Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and delivered to the garden.

The Conservancy has helped to establish 11 state parks, conserved more than 250,000 acres of natural lands and protected or restored more than 3,000 miles of rivers and streams, maintains 132 community gardens and other green spaces that are planted with the help of more than 11,000 volunteers and the support of more than 9,000 members.
