Sen. Yaw Hosts March 23 'Honest Conservation About Energy, The Economy, The Environment' With State Geologist From Texas
|
Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming), Majority Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, invited interested persons to tune into a March 23 online program by Dr. Scott W. Tinker Texas State Geologist entitled "An Honest Conversation About Energy, Economy and The Environment" from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Dr. Tinker works to bring industry, government, academia, and nongovernmental organizations together to address major societal challenges in energy, the environment, and the economy. Dr. Tinker formed the nonprofit Switch Energy Alliance in 2016 and has completed two new films: Switch On, a feature length documentary addressing global energy poverty, and Energy Makes our World, a five-minute, Hollywood-quality film made for global museums and giant screens. Dr. Tinker sees four pillars of energy security--affordable, available, reliable, and sustainable—and he frames his engaging, entertaining and jargon-free talks accordingly. The pillars of energy security are influenced by the cost of the resource, price volatility, the cost of infrastructure, resource access, generation intermittency, air and atmospheric emissions, land footprint and water usage. Dr. Tinker is also the Allday Endowed Chair Professor at the University of Texas. Click Here to register for this event. Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming) serves as Majority Chair of the Senate Environmental Committee and can be contacted by calling 717-787-3280 or sending email to: gyaw@pasen.gov.
