The USDA/NRCS in Pennsylvania has $300,000 in Healthy Forest Reserve Program (HFRP) funding available for permanent forest easements with habitat restoration.  The deadline for applications is April 30.

HFRP in Pennsylvania will be used to preserve and restore Indiana bat maternity colony and hibernacula habitat.

Landowners in Adams, York, Berks, Bedford, Huntingdon, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Mifflin, Snyder, Armstrong and Beaver Counties may be eligible for HFRP funding.

The Healthy Forests Reserve Program (HFRP) is a voluntary program to assist landowners in restoring, enhancing, and protecting forestland resources on private lands through permanent easements.

The program aims to promote the recovery of threatened and endangered species under the Endangered Species Act; improve plant and animal biodiversity; and enhance carbon sequestration.

To apply, visit your local county NRCS office.

For more information on the program, visit the NRCS-PA Healthy Forest Reserve Program webpage.

Visit the USDA/NRCS in Pennsylvania webpage for information on financial and technical assistance available to landowners.
