On March 9, the Pittsburgh-based CEOs for Sustainability executive network announced it has selected Raymond Yeager, president and CEO of DMI Companies, as its new co-chair effective immediately. A founding participant in CEOs for Sustainability, Yeager placed sustainability at the center of DMI Companies’ culture and business strategy, resulting in cost-savings and competitive advantage for the Charleroi-based HVAC products manufacturer. As CEOs for Sustainability co-chair, he succeeds Steve Malnight, the former president and CEO of Duquesne Light Company. Yeager will share CEOs for Sustainability co-chair duties with Charles Toran, president of Sci-Tek Consultants. “I’m pleased to serve in this role as co-chair,” said Yeager. “At DMI Companies, we like to say sustainability is in our DNA. I’m committed to sharing with other companies where we’ve been successful, so they can reap the same benefits we do. CEOs for Sustainability enables companies like ours to do just that.” “With Ray at the helm, DMI Companies has become a national leader in sustainable manufacturing practices,” added Toran. “He will be a great asset to CEOs for Sustainability, and I look forward to leading alongside him.” Hosted by the nonprofit Sustainable Pittsburgh, CEOs for Sustainability launched the Leading Forward initiative in November. Leading Forward is a call to action for businesses in the Pittsburgh region to commit to a sustainable economic recovery. It includes commitment to three priorities that underscore sustainability as a demonstrated strategy for prosperity: -- Supporting local businesses and communities through the pandemic crisis, -- Advancing racial and ethnic equity, and -- Reducing carbon emissions. To make these priorities as actionable as possible for the Pittsburgh business community, CEOs for Sustainability, Sustainable Pittsburgh, and the CEOs for Sustainability Advisory Committee created the Leading Forward Roadmap. This strategic framework includes concrete steps, tools, and regional resources to support “leading forward” on a sustainable economic recovery for all. “Ray’s leadership at DMI Companies exemplifies how leaders committed to these priorities can help elevate our region, improving our competitiveness, resiliency, and desirability for residents and business alike,” said Joylette Portlock, Ph.D., executive director of Sustainable Pittsburgh. “With these bold commitments, business leaders are the vanguard of a recovery that makes our people and economy stronger.” CEOs for Sustainability is believed to be the only group in the United States where CEOs provide regional thought leadership around business sustainability. The executive network represents more than $150 billion in total revenues and 100,000 employees. CEOs for Sustainability and Sustainable Pittsburgh have prepared resources and guidance to support southwestern Pennsylvania businesses in advancing their sustainability commitments.
