The PA Environmental Resource Consortium, City of Harrisburg, Environmental Advisory Committee, and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology are hosting an Environmental Justice in Pennsylvania event, to be held virtually on April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Summit is a virtual one-day event that will bring the audience of community members to activate local Environmental Justice hubs around Pennsylvania.

Harrisburg University and Carlisle’s Dickinson College will serve as the “Southcentral hub,” one of the six hubs planned across Pennsylvania.

Rafiyqa Muhammad, co-chair of the event and a member of Harrisburg’s Environmental Advisory Council, told The Burg news the hubs will serve as places for people in the community to learn more about environmental justice and collaborate with others with the same interest.

She also said she hopes the symposium will inspire attendees to make small changes in their lives to “clean up the planet and get people healthy.”

The event will build on existing Environmental Justice work and events, with the focus of supporting ongoing activity through the EJ Community following the event.
