PA Resources Council Announces April Schedule Of Online Conservation Workshops

The PA Resources Council will host online conservation workshops on recycling and waste reduction, backyard composting and watershed awareness and rain barrels.

How can you transform unwanted kitchen scraps into valuable organic matter to feed your garden?  How can you harvest and store roof water for use on your lawn and garden while practicing watershed stewardship?  What items should you place in the curbside recycling container?  And how can you properly dispose of electronic equipment?

Learn the answer to these – and many other – questions by attending a Pennsylvania Resources Council online conservation webinar in April.

“PRC’s webinar format is an extremely convenient way to learn from the comfort of home and enables individuals throughout the Commonwealth to take part since webinars require no travel to a specific classroom location,” according to PRC Education Specialist Nancy Martin.

Backyard Composting

Learn the benefits of backyard composting, including the overall process, methods for setting up a compost pile, proper maintenance and ways to use finished compost.

The webinars will be held April 5 and 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The $70 course fee includes instruction plus a FreeGarden EARTH compost bin, which features an 82-gallon capacity ideal for both urban and suburban settings.

Bin distribution in Southeastern and Southwestern Pennsylvania is by appointment.  Individuals will register for a time to pick up compost bins after completing online instruction.

Rain Barrel

Discover how to harvest rainwater from your roof, store it in a barrel and use it in the landscape.  Learn about problems associated with stormwater runoff and techniques to reduce your contribution to watershed pollution.

The webinars will be held on April 13 and 29 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The $80 Course fee includes instruction plus a FreeGarden RAIN 55-gallon easy-to-install rain barrel.

Barrel distribution in Southwestern Pennsylvania is by appointment.  Individuals will register for a time to pick up compost bins after completing online instruction.

Recycling

The workshop will answer common questions surrounding recycling issues such as curbside collection, hard-to-recycle material and pharmaceutical disposal. Learn recycling best practices by joining the webinar from anywhere in Pennsylvania.

The webinar will be held on April 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Registration is required for all workshops.  Click Here to register.
