SEEDS Sustainable Energy Education & Development Support In NE PA: Fundraising Auction May 1; New Farm To Table Podcast Series

The SEEDS Sustainable Energy Education & Development Support In Northeast PA will host a May 1 Raise-the-Rent fundraiser auction virtually on the BiddingOwl platform.

SEEDS will also be starting “Today’s Main Ingredient,” a weekly podcast produced by SEEDS, on May 16

Raise-the Rent Auction

Some of the exciting gifts that have been donated to the auction so far include a “Beam of Hope” oil painting by Juan H. Espino; a small farm share from Fertile Valley Farm and Wolfe Springs Farm; a herbal gift basket from Mount Pleasant Herbary; and so much more.

All these wonderful items will be available, just in time to shop for Mother’s Day and graduation. SEEDS is very grateful to the many businesses and individuals who donate wonderful items to help cover general operating costs for SEEDS.

This new virtual format of the auction will offer bidders time and opportunity to peruse the available items from the comfort of their home and find that “something special” from local donors and businesses. Plus, bidders get to be anonymous, just like in the silent auctions SEEDS organized in the past.

Please create an account on BiddingOwl.com and mark your calendar for May 1s to begin your bidding in the Raise-the-Rent auction.

SEEDS is still seeking donations for this event. If you have an item, service, gift card you would like to donate to the SEEDS fundraiser, please contact Jenna Wayne Mauder at jenna.mauder@gmail.com or call 570-245-1256.

Farm To Table Podcast

“Today’s Main Ingredient,” a podcast produced by SEEDS will launch a series of weekly, 15-minute audio programs on May 16, focusing on local farms and food businesses one ingredient at a time.

The first installment will be “Asparagus: How It’s Grown, How to Prepare It” with interviews by farmer Brian Fox of Salem Mountain Natural Vegetables whose farm is near Waymart, PA and Chef Ben Cooper of Here & Now Brewing Company located in Honesdale, PA.

The podcasts will be posted weekly on the website SeedsGroup.net and shared with other NEPA organizations’ websites.

It also will air on two of Bold Gold Media’s radio stations: WDNH (90.5 FM) and WYCY Classic Hits (105.3 FM) on Sunday mornings at 7:05 a.m. and 7:20 a.m. respectively and podcasted on their RadioBold.com site.

In each episode, the host and interviewer, Mikki Uzupes, a Honesdale-based former radio newscaster, will interview a local farmer and a local chef or food entrepreneur about the week’s featured ingredient.

Each installment will close with some words about that ingredient’s healthy eating properties from certified nutritionist Carol Kneier, Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Community Outreach Manager.

This series is made possible, in part, by funding from the Greater Pike Community Foundation. For more information about “Today’s Main Ingredient” and how to become a sponsor, contact the series producer, Jane Bollinger at jane@seedsgroup.net.
