Environmental Quality Board Meets May 19 On Proposed Radiation Safety, Air Pollution Reduction Regulations

The Environmental Quality Board is scheduled to hold a virtual meeting on May 19 to consider proposed radiation safety and RACT Air Pollution Reduction regulations.

The proposed changes to radiation safety regulations involve setting radiation safety requirements for industrial radiographic operations; and radiation safety requirements for particle accelerators) rescinds Chapter 227 (relating to radiation safety requirements for analytical X-ray equipment, X-ray gauging equipment, electron microscopes and X-ray calibration systems) and adds new Chapter 227a.

The proposed changes to air quality regulations set additional Reasonably Available Control Technology Standards for major sources of nitrogen oxide and volatile organic compounds as required by the federal Clean Air Act.
