On May 3rd and 4th, Independence Conservancy teamed up with Washington County Conservation District, Range Resources, and Washington County Parks to tackle "Trash Mountain" on the Panhandle Trail near Weirton, West Virginia.

Trash Mountain shed 40 cubic yards of car parts, household debris, and 450 tires to the hardy souls who spent two days scraping it off the cliff.

Long an eyesore to travelers on the Panhandle Trail, Trash Mountain is trashy no more. Passers-by praised the muddy volunteers.

One cyclist summed it up: "Thank you so much for cleaning this up for us. It looks wonderful now. What a great job!"
