House/Senate Bills Moving Last Week

Senate

Protecting PFAS/PFOA Makers From Liability: Senate Bill 302 (Yaw-R-Lycoming) protecting PFAS/PFOA manufacturers from cleanup liability (Senate Fiscal Note & Summary) was reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee and passed by the Senate.

Changing Definition Of Water Pollution: Senate Bill 545 (Yaw-R- Lycoming) changes the definition of what constitutes reportable water pollution under the state Clean Streams Law (and not for the better) was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Read more here

Floodplain Program Authority: House Bill 1598 (Boback-R-Luzerne) redesignating the PA Emergency Management Agency as primary agency to oversee floodplain management, rather than DCED, and making other changes was amended and reported out of the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.

100% Renewable Energy By 2050: House Bill 100 (Rabb-D-Philadelphia) and Senate Bill 872 (Cappelletti-D-Delaware) putting Pennsylvania on a path to achieve 100 percent renewable sources of electric generation by 2050 [Read more here].

Bar To Future Employment In Natural Gas Industry:  House Bill 1902 (Sappey-D-Chester) would prohibit former public officials or public employees of DEP from being employed by an owner or operator of a company that conducts natural gas operations in Pennsylvania for at least one year after the official or employee leaves DEP (sponsor summary).
