PA Resources Council Offers 3 Ways You Can Celebrate America Recycles Day Nov. 15

By Mary Beth Mueller, PA Resources Council On Monday, November 15, individuals across the United States will celebrate America Recycles Day, which annually recognizes the impact of recycling on the nation’s economy and environment. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, each American produces approximately 4.4 pounds of waste every day. While 75 percent of this waste is recyclable, typically only about 30 percent finds its way to the proper receptacle. The Pennsylvania Resources Council suggests three ways individuals living throughout the Commonwealth can learn more about recycling: -- Attend PRC’s FREE Recycling & Waste Reduction Webinar Nov. 17: Register for the next free statewide “Recycling & Waste Reduction” webinar taking place on Wednesday, November 17, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. to learn about a wide variety of topics including curbside collection, hard-to-recycle materials and pharmaceutical disposal. This free PRC webinar takes place once/month. Register at PRC – Event Details & Registration. -- Call DEP’s Recycling Hotline at 1-800-346-4242: Call the team of PRC employees who staff the DEP recycling hotline to ask for guidance regarding how to responsibly recycle a wide range of materials not suitable for curbside pickup. -- Visit the Learn & Act Section Of PRC’s website: Visit PRC’s Learn & Act webpage for a wealth of recycling information including best practices, municipal resources and online brochures.
