FracTracker Alliance, Halt The Harm Network To Honor 4 With Sentinel Awards At Dec. 9 Program

The FracTracker Alliance and Halt the Harm Network will honor four environmental justice advocates with Community Sentinel Awards for Environmental Stewardship during a December 9 virtual awards program from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Four award recipients from across the nation have been selected by a panel of judges include--

-- John Beard, Jr., Founder, Chairman and CEO of the Port Arthur Community Action Network (“PA-CAN”) of Port Arthur, TX

-- Veronica Coptis, Executive Director, Center for Coalfield Justice, of Greene County, Pennsylvania

-- Travis London, Community Organizing Fellow and Project Lead, Public Lab, of Donaldsonville, Louisiana

-- Love Sanchez. Co-Founder of Indigenous Peoples of the Coastal Bend,  Member of Karankawa Kadla Tribe of the Texas Gulf Coast, of Corpus Christi, Texas

As part of the recognition, each awardee will also receive $1,000 in recognition of their efforts.

The Keynote speaker for the event will be Winona LaDuke, Executive Director of Honor the Earth, Harvard-educated economist, environmental activist, author, hemp farmer, grandmother, and a two-time former Green Party Vice President candidate with Ralph Nader.

The event will feature music by Eilen Jewell, described by American Songwriter as “one of America’s most intriguing, creative and idiosyncratic voices.”

The program is sponsored by the 11th Hour Project/The Schmidt Family Foundation, The

Heinz Endowments, and the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds.
