DEP Invites Comments On A Proposed Denial Of NPDES Permit For 20MW Solar Energy Project In Erie County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the February 12 PA Bulletin proposing to deny an NPDES permit for a 20MW solar energy facility to be installed by Erie Solar, LLC in Girard Township, Erie County (PA Bulletin, page 1068).

This project proposes the installation of a ±20 MW ground-mounted principal solar energy system across one parcel of land that is comprised of a total of ±250 acres. This project includes the construction of an SES (solar energy system) with associated solar arrays, access roads, and other necessary improvements to the site.

The total disturbed surface area is 169.38 acres and the proposed receiving stream is Godfrey Run, a High Quality Cold Water Fishery.
