Penn State Extension Feb. 23 Water Cooler Talk On Wetlands & Better Water Quality Future

Penn State Extension will hold another in its series of Water Cooler Talks February 23 on Wetlands and Better Water Quality Futures from Noon to 1:00 p.m.

The webinar will discuss the importance of a landscape-scale approach to wetland restoration and protection, and will provide a broad context for thinking about the effects of wetlands on water quality.

Recognition of the magnitude of wetland loss as well as the wide variety of ecosystem services provided by wetlands has in recent decades led to an increased focus on wetland restoration.

Restoration activities, however, often proceed in an ad hoc manner, with a focus on maximizing the total restored area rather than on other spatial attributes of the wetland network.

The speakers include--

-- Tyler Grow, Assistant Research Professor, Watershed Management Extension Specialist; and

-- Kimberly Van Meter, Assistant Professor of Geography at Penn State.
