Fish & Boat Commission Accepting Applications For State Wildlife Grants

The Fish and Boat Commission is seeking project applications for the State Wildlife Grants Program.  The deadline for applications is April 22.

The priority topic for this work will support the PFBC's comprehensive review and revision of the 2015-2025 Pennsylvania Wildlife Action Plan.

The PFBC has responsibilities for managing fish, amphibians, reptiles, freshwater mussels, aquatic invertebrates, and their habitats.

As a congressional requirement, each state must comprehensively review and revise their State Wildlife Action Plan no less than every 10 years.

To support this revision process for Pennsylvania's next Wildlife Action Plan (due October 1, 2025), the PFBC has identified a priority topic of invertebrate species assessments.

This work will require a variety of tasks such as determining species designations (e.g., Species of Greatest Conservation Need) and related information found in the priority topic description.

The PFBC anticipates final applicant determination by mid-to-late May 2022.

Federal dollars for this program are apportioned to the PFBC by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and the Wildlife and Sportfish Restoration Program through the State & Tribal Wildlife Grants Program.

Awards for selected projects will be contingent upon availability of funds, as well as satisfactory completion of USFWS, PFBC, and Commonwealth applications, compliance documents, and other requirements.

For more information and an application packet, visit the PFBC State Wildlife Grants Program.

Interested applicants with questions about the project should contact Diana Day, Conservation Coordinator at 717-346-8137 or diday@pa.gov.
