The National Fish & Wildlife Foundation Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Program has funded a project by the PA 4R Alliance to provide farmers in the Bay Watershed with cost share funding for split applications of nitrogen.  The deadline for applications is April 4.

The longer the period between nitrogen application and crop uptake, the higher the vulnerability is for loss. Split applications of nitrogen have been proven to positively impact nitrogen use efficiencies and reduce nitrogen losses.

Oftentimes, farms are not willing or able to adopt new practices due to financial barriers. The cost share available through this program will help offset out-of-pocket costs and demonstrate that the adoption of 4R practices are not only good for environmental sustainability but also for farm profitability.

Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 25,000 acres of farmland.
