Pike County Tick Borne Diseases Task Force Hosts Health Symposium July 30

The Tick Borne Diseases Task Force will hold the Pike County Lyme and Tick Borne Diseases Health Symposium on Saturday, July 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Pike County Training Center, 135 Pike County Blvd., in Lords Valley, PA. Doors open at 9:45 a.m.

Dr. Cathleen Mattos, CEO and President of the TBD Support Network, INC. said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to obtain a greater understanding of how Lyme and tick borne diseases can affect a person's health and overall well-being if left undiagnosed or untreated."

At the symposium, experts in the tick borne diseases (TBD) prevention community will present on various TBD topics including tick due diligence and the latest prevention techniques. Vendors will also be present at the event.

Brian Snyder, Vice Chair of the Pike County Tick Borne Diseases Task Force, stated, “We are excited by this opportunity as one of the main goals of the Task Force is to educate the community. Holding events such as the Lyme and Tick Borne Diseases Health Symposium can help to accomplish that goal.  There are many great presenters scheduled to speak at the event.”

Commissioner Matthew M. Osterberg added, “With many of Pike County’s recreation activities being outdoors, and the prevalence of ticks in the county, we feel that this is an important event to hold to raise awareness about tick borne diseases, how to protect yourself from becoming infected, and how to safely enjoy your time outside.”

The Pike County Tick Borne Diseases Task Force is focused on decreasing the number of tick-borne illnesses by building community awareness through education, support, and advocacy.

The Task Force offers educational materials to help people prevent tick borne diseases and safely enjoy the great outdoors.  Click Here for educational materials.
