Photo

Join the PA Association of Environmental Educators for the next installments of their online Professional Development Series--

-- August 10: New Conservation/Recreation-Based Science Curriculum. 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

The Conservation Science curriculum engages students in doing science and developing important skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, data collection, etc. The curriculum focuses on the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation and the related outdoor recreation: Hunting, fishing, trapping, shooting sports and boating. Students learn and develop skills related to relevant and applicable topics.

-- September 9: Virtual Programming, Noon to 1:00 p.m.

Virtual experiences have become an invaluable part of our educational toolkit. They provide opportunities to extend our reach and engage with communities far from our base of operations. Join Powdermill Nature Reserve and Carnegie Museum of Natural History Educators for a behind-the-scenes look at developing a virtual nature hike. Learn what resources, strategies, and platforms were used in creating this virtual experience.

-- November 4: Ecoart in Action: Arts-based Environmental Education. Noon - 1:15 p.m.

Join ecoart network members Jan van Boeckel, Cynthia Cutting, and Amara Geffen to explore opportunities for engaging communities in arts-based environmental education. We will provide basic information about our recently published book, Ecoart in Action: Activities, Case Studies, and Provocations for Classrooms and Communities, designed for environmental educators working with a variety of audiences regardless of their personal background in the arts.
