DEP Invites Comments On 2 Proposed Oil & Gas Wastewater Impoundments By Range Resources-Appalachia, LLC In Washington County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notices in the August 27 PA Bulletin inviting comments on proposals by Range Resources-Appalachia, LLC for two oil and gas wastewater impoundments in Washington County.  (PA Bulletin, page 5532)

The proposed impoundment in Amwell Township would allow for the storage and reuse of freshwater or oil and gas produced waste (brine) at the Amwell Township 15 Centralized Impoundment located at 2294 S. Main Street Ext in Washington, PA.

The second proposed impoundment in Chartiers Township would allow for the storage and reuse of freshwater or oil and gas produced waste (brine) at the Chartiers Township 16 Impoundment located at 430 Arden Road, Washington, PA.

Comments or questions concerning both applications should be directed to RA-EP-EXTUPLSWRO@pa.gov, DEP Southwest Regional Office, 400 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15222-4745, 412-442-4000.

Public comments must be submitted by October 26 and may recommend revisions to, and approval or denial of the application.
