PUC Approves Settlement With Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority Addressing Compliance Plan For Stormwater Issues

On August 25, the Public Utility Commission approved a joint settlement addressing stormwater issues for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority.

The Commission voted 3-0 to approve a joint settlement resolving outstanding aspects of PWSA’s Stage 2 Stormwater Compliance Plan.

The settlement was submitted by PWSA, the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate, the City of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh United.

Additionally, the settlement was not opposed by the PUC’s independent Bureau of Investigation & Enforcement or the Pennsylvania Office of Small Business Advocate.

Under the terms of the settlement, PWSA will file an updated version of the “Stage 2 Compliance Plan: Stormwater” within 60 days of the PUC’s final order.

Additionally, PWSA will publicly circulate and take comments on its draft Stormwater Strategic Plan, respond to appropriate comments in the final Strategic Plan, and will work with its existing Stormwater Partners Group to initiate a process for long-term public engagement.
