Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education Farmer Grant Program Opens Oct. 1
|
The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education will begin accepting grant applications October 1. The deadline to submit applications is November 15. This program offers grants to farmers to explore new concepts in sustainable agriculture through experiments, surveys, prototypes, on-farm demonstrations, or other research and education techniques. Topics eligible for funding include marketing and business, crop production, raising livestock, social sustainability, climate-smart agriculture practices, urban and Indigenous agriculture, and more. All types and scales of farms — large or small scale, organic or conventional, urban or rural — can apply. Farm business owners as well as farm employees, whether full- or part-time, can apply. The maximum grant award was increased to $30,000. “As recent Chair of the Northeast SARE Administrative Council, I was thrilled to shepherd in a doubling of the amount of grant funding farmers could apply for. This is the first season this increased amount is available. I hope all farmers will consider applying for this opportunity!"
