DCNR Hosts Nov. 3 Statewide Grant Workshop For Recreation & Conservation Projects; Special Fall Grant Round

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will host a November 3 virtual Grant Workshop for applications for 2023 recreation and conservation projects from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.

This free, virtual workshop is designed to help applicants develop project ideas in preparation for submitting a grant application to the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2), which opens January 17 and closes April 5, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.

DCNR’s Bureau of Recreation and Conservation staff will present about grant program selection criteria, review current program priorities, and discuss eligible project categories.

2023 potential applicants are strongly encouraged to attend.

The workshop is especially suited for municipal officials, consultants, board members, trail managers, land trust staff, and park and recreation professionals.

A general session for all applicants will begin at 9:00 a.m. Project type-specific breakout sessions will follow.

Applicants should plan on attending both the general session and the breakout session for the project type they plan on applying for.

There will be ample time for project-specific Q&A with DCNR’s professional grant managers and regional advisors.

Special Grant Round

On September 6, DCNR announced a special 2022 fall grant round, which was made possible in part from appropriated funds in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s 2022-23 budget.

The deadline to submit applications for the fall grant round is October 27.

For the supplemental fall grant round there is a lower match requirement for municipalities with populations under 5,000 people.

For these communities, match is only 20% of the grant amount with no cap on project size. This lower match requirement makes the fall funding round an ideal opportunity for smaller municipalities to apply for grants.

The special fall funding round is also an ideal time to apply for tree planting, lawn conversion, and streamside buffer grants.

The round includes more than $8 million in Keystone Tree Fund money and other funds to support watershed and community forestry practices.

For more information on the fall grant round or to apply, visit DCNR’s Grants Customer Service Portal webpage.
