Senate Committee Meets Sept. 20 To Consider Solar Energy Subscriber Program Bill

The Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee is scheduled to meet September 20 on House Bill 1161 (Mizgorski-R-Allegheny) authorizing the establishment of solar energy subscriber programs.

This bill is not the real community solar program legislation-- House Bill 1555 (Kaufer-R-Luzerne)-- supported by farmers, environmental, energy and other advocacy groups.

House Bill 1161 has been supported by Duquesne Light, the Energy Association of PA and the Edison Electric Institute, traditional electric distribution/ generation groups. Read more here.

House Bill 1555 (Kaufer-R-Luzerne) is the real community solar energy program legislation, but that bill is still in the House Consumer Affairs Committee.

This legislation has been supported by the Pennsylvania Conservative Energy Forum, the Coalition for Community Solar Access, Community Energy and other groups.  Read more here.
