In collaboration with the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy, WeConservePA hosted a site visit of a stream restoration project in the Little Shamokin Creek Watershed. The project is stabilizing streambanks and doing habitat restoration along the Little Shamokin Creek waterways and watershed area. The site visit was hosted by Brad Barkdoll from WeConservePA along with representatives from the Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy. Attendees included local and state representatives from the Department of Environmental Protection, Fish and Boat Commission, watershed specialists from the Northumberland County Conservation District, Rep. Lynda Culver (R-Northumberland), and Sen. John Gordner (R-Columbia). [Note: Sen. Gordner and Rep. Culver were leaders in the effort in this year’s budget to earmark nearly $700 million in funding to support local and state environmental, recreation and green infrastructure projects.
