The Allegheny County Health Department is sponsoring its eighth annual environmental poster contest for students in grades 6-8. The deadline for entries is February 16.

The theme of this year’s contest is “Shedding Light on Mercury” and intended to help students learn about the harmful health effects of mercury, its sources in the environment and how to reduce human exposures.

Winners will be announced in conjunction with Earth Day celebrations next April.

Teachers who would like to have their classes participate in the poster contest should contact the Health Department for details.
