Register Now For Oct. 29 Pike County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The Pike County Commissioners in partnership with the Pike County Conservation District, Pocono Source Water Protection Collaborative, and Pike County Office of Community Planning are bringing a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event to Pike County!

The event will be held October 29, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Dingman Delaware Middle School 1365 PA-739 Dingmans Ferry, PA.

The cost per vehicle will be $20 and registration is required in advance. The program is limited to 300 resident vehicles. Attendees must be residents of Pike County, PA.

Business or commercial hazardous waste will not be accepted, households only.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is any product found in a household that are considered toxic, flammable, etc. and require careful handling and disposal.

Examples of these hazardous products include items such as pool chemicals, motor oils, and pesticides. Latex (water-based) paint is not considered HHW if it is in solid form.

Water-based paint can be disposed of in your regular household garbage if you solidify first using commercially available paint hardeners, cat litter, or air drying in a safe, well-ventilated area.

Properly disposing of these materials can be difficult but it is an important way to protect the high-quality natural resources we have here in Pike County.

Click Here to register for this event and inventory the amounts of HHW to be disposed of.

Please contact the Pike County Conservation District at 570-226-8220 or the Pike County Office of Community Planning at 570-296-3500 if you have any questions.
