Protect PT in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties is hosting a four-part online series of Living Near Shale Gas Community Training Workshops starting November 10 with Complaint & Compliance on documenting Complaints from 6:30 to 7:30.
The Home Resource Guide Community Workshops are a series of trainings that cover topics surrounding oil and gas development, from extraction and production to transportation and waste issues.
This series is broken up into multiple sections to mirror the Home Resource Guide, which is a binder Protect PT put together with resources for you and other community members to keep in your home to have at your fingertips.
These trainings are free and open to the public. When you attend a training, you will receive a copy of the Home Resource Guide.
Online Workshops
The online workshops will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on--
-- November 10: Complaint & Compliance: Documenting activity you see that doesn't follow local or DEP regulations is important because enforcement agencies don't necessarily know about or give attention to violations being committed unless you speak up and report them.
-- November 15: Emergency & Disaster Preparedness: With 10 well pads and 50 plus wells currently proposed by Apex and Huntley & Huntley in our township, residents need to be reassured that our first responders are ready to protect the community.
-- November 17: Air & Water Pollution: Unconventional gas development can pollute the air you breathe and water you drink in many different ways.
-- November 22: Waste & Noise Pollution: Excessive noise and waste disposal can impact nearby residents in many different aspects of life.

Protect PT (Penn-Trafford) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring residents’ safety, security, and quality of life by engaging in education and advocacy to protect the economic, environmental, and legal rights of the people in Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.
Since starting as a group of neighbors working together to protect their neighborhood from fracking in late 2014, Protect PT has grown to a community-based organization with staff, volunteers, and members.
