The Department of Environmental Protection is now accepting applications for Food Recovery Infrastructure Grants.  The deadline is March 17.  (formal notice)

Food recovery infrastructure grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations for the procurement of equipment (refrigerators, freezers, refrigerant and nonrefrigerant box trucks, cargo vans, pallet jacks, dollies, hand fork lifts, stoves, ovens and microwaves) to reduce food waste disposal from food retailers, wholesalers, agriculture organizations, farms and cooperatives by repurposing and redistributing apparently safe and wholesome foods to nonprofits in this Commonwealth that provide food to segments of the public.

Special consideration will be given to those applicants identified in environmental justice (EJ) areas.

Potential applicants are required to have a pre-application meeting with the Department's Regional Planning and Recycling Coordinator prior to submitting an application for funding consideration. [See formal notice.]

Visit DEP’s  Recycling Financial Assistance webpage for more information on this program.  Questions should be directed to Mark Vottero, Recycling Grants Coordinator, at mvottero@pa.gov or (717) 772-5719.
