Game Commission’s Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area Celebrates 50th Anniversary In 2023 With Special Activities, Events

The Game Commission’s Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Stevens, PA on the Lebanon/Lancaster county border will celebrate its 50th anniversary of opening to the public in 2023 with a series of special activities and events through the year.

The Game Commission began buying land for Middle Creek in 1965 and was completed in 1972.  Construction of the lake and visitor center was completed and opened in 1973.

In 2010, Middle Creek was designated as a Globally Significant Important Bird Area because it annually hosts a large percentage of North America’s population of snow geese and tundra swans and provides critically important migratory stopover habitat.

Special Activities

Participants successfully completing the hunt will receive a special Middle Creek 50th Anniversary patch and decal created by Ethan Beck of Lansdale, Montgomery County.

-- September 13: Let’s (Try To) Count All The Birds In PA

-- October 11: Conservation After Dark - PA’s Favorite Flying Mammals

-- November 8: Rattlesnakes Demystified

-- December 16: Anatomy of the White-Tailed Deer

Conservation Heritage Museum

Middle Creek also hosts the Game Commission’s Conservation Heritage Museum that allows the public to learn more about the history of the Game Commission conservation efforts since it was established in 1895.
