In several events across the state this week, the Department of Environmental Protection recognized winners of the 2005 Governor Awards for Environmental Excellence, which were awarded in 2006.

Here’s a rundown on the award winners recognized:

· Scrubgrass Generating Company received the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence for a mine reclamation project that has transformed a formerly abandoned mine site in Clearfield County into an environmentally viable property that’s capable of supporting diverse vegetation, wildlife and aquatic species.
