The Capital Resource Conservation and Development Area Council and the PA Grazing Lands Coalition will host a Rotational Grazing Pasture Walk on July 18 at the Harvest Home Farms in Bangor, Northampton County from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Harvest Home Farms owners Rich DiFebo and his son, Dohl, graze approximately 60 head of Red Devon – Angus cross cattle on 120 acres at the home farm and on an additional 65 acres nearby at the Ott Environmental Learning Center.

They use rotational grazing practices in both locations to balance livestock needs and unique onsite issues, including reclaiming overgrown acreage from what had been a Christmas tree farm at the Ott Environmental Learning Center site.

The July 18th pasture walk includes visits to both sites and will feature discussion about rotational grazing practices, infrastructure (fencing and watering system), pasture soil health, and the challenges of grass finishing.

Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. at Ott Environmental Learning Center, 740 Orchard Road, Mt. Bethel.

Lunch will be served following the event at the nearby Jerry Brunetti Environmental Center, 7701 Martins Creek-Belvidere Highway, Bangor.

There is no charge for the pasture walk or lunch but registration is requested by July 14, 2023, and can be made online by emailing events@paglc.org, or by calling 717-241-4361.
