On August 23, the Susquehanna River Basin Commission announced the award of $75,000 in grants to support groundwater level monitoring efforts by 12 recipients.
“We are always looking for ways to help our regulated-community, especially during times of economic uncertainty,” said Executive Director Andrew Dehoff. “This funding may be crucial in achieving better accuracy, improving efficiency, preventing equipment failures, or automating water level recordings.”
In this third year of the grant program, awarded money will help 12 Commission-regulated projects purchase and install equipment needed to meet required monitoring and reporting of water levels in their production wells.
Information collected also aids in supporting a project during time of permit renewal, continued evaluation of groundwater conditions, and knowledge of the sustainability of water resources throughout the basin.
Everyone that applied was awarded in this round with seven projects receiving the maximum grant award of $7,500.
Awardees include eight public water suppliers and four corporations.
