Clean out the basement, the garage and the garden shed! There’s still plenty of time left in 2023 to responsibly dispose of a wide variety of materials ranging from pesticides and paints to televisions and tires at upcoming collection events hosted by Pennsylvania Resources Council. “PRC provides residents with numerous options for the recycling and safe management of a wide variety of materials not accepted in curbside pickup,” according to PRC Executive Director Darren Spielman. “It’s important to manage these materials the right way because many contain toxic elements that can leach into our waterways or introduce dangerous toxins into our environment, while others contain valuable recyclable resources.” Events Schedule All events will take place 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. -- Allegheny County: Hard-To-Recycle Collections: Collecting tires, polystyrene packaging material, fluorescent tubes, small Freon appliances, televisions, computers and other materials. -- August 26: Next Tier Connect @ Pittsburgh East, Monroeville, Allegheny County -- October 7: Settlers Cabin Park, Allegheny County -- Allegheny & Beaver Counties: Household Chemical Collections: Collecting automotive fluids, household cleaners, pesticides, paints and other household chemicals -- September 9: South Park, Allegheny County -- October 14: Bradys Run Park, Beaver County -- Delaware County: Electronics Waste: Collecting televisions, computers, phones, vacuum cleaners and other e-waste. -- September 19: Catania County Park, Delaware County Visit PRC’s Collection Events webpage for pricing information and a list of items accepted at each event.
