The Center for Coalfield Justice is partnering with the Donora Historical Society and Smog Museum to host an October 11 webinar to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Donora smog, an event that led to the creation of the state Air Pollution Control Act and the federal Clean Air Act. The deadly smog of 1948, one of the worst air pollution disasters in U.S. history. It killed 21 people and caused health issues for 6,000 of the 14,000 people living in the town of Donora in Washington County. Following the presentation from the Donora Historical Society, there will be a roundtable discussion with partners about their work and reflections on the Clean Air Act’s past, present, and future.
