The latest newsletter from Lancaster Clean Water Partners shares wetland restoration and stream side forest buffer and pollinator garden success stories as part of their local initiative to have Clean And Clear Local Water by 2040.
Conewago Creek Restoration
Prior to the restoration work which began in May 2022, the area of the Conewago Creek along Hoffer Road in Londonderry Township was plagued with exceptionally steep stream banks, large areas of sediment deposits, little to no stream buffer, frequent flooding, and high amounts of nutrient and sediment pollution.
The site today is a beautiful place to visit, where the restored wetlands are creating a new habitat for native species and cleaner water is flowing downstream.

Overlook Park Forest Buffer/Pollinator Garden
Our Buffer Action Team has been working with Stroud Water Research Center and Manheim Township to create a streamside forest and pollinator garden at Overlook Park!
The goal is to create an eight-acre streamside forest and pollinator garden in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, near the Little Conestoga Creek, which is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
It’s a public space, but it’s also an inspirational space. We hope that visitors will apply what they learn in their own yards and gardens.
