Friends Of The Wissahickon Host Nov. 7 Climate Change In Our Watersheds Fall Valley Talk, In-Person, Online In Philadelphia

The Friends of the Wissahickon welcomes Marc Peipoch, Ph.D. to discuss Climate Change in our Watersheds, at its second fall Valley Talk on November 7 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Valley Green Inn in Fairmont Park, Philadelphia.

Peipoch, a freshwater ecologist and research scientist at Stroud Water Research Center who investigates the effects of global climate change on streams and rivers, will discuss the implications of climate change and actions needed to address its impact on the Wissahickon watershed.

While change is a natural feature of river ecosystems, watersheds like the Wissahickon are particularly vulnerable to the accelerating effects of global warming, like warming water temperature, and aquatic communities may not be able to withstand the pace.

Join FOW and Peipoch to learn what to expect in the near future and how to help river ecosystems - and ourselves - adapt to these rapid changes now.

Every fall and spring Friends of the Wissahickon hosts Valley Talks - a free lecture series featuring a variety of Wissahickon-related topics ranging from history and habitat to environment and watershed.

Valley Talks are held from 6-7 p.m. and are hybrid - in person at the Valley Green Inn and virtually (online registrants will receive a Zoom link before the presentation).

Valley Talks are presented by Prentiss Smith & Co.
