On Wednesday, Nov. 15, individuals across the United States will celebrate America Recycles Day, which annually recognizes the impact of recycling on the nation’s economy and environment.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, each American produces approximately 4.4 pounds of waste every day.  While much of this waste is recyclable in some way, typically only about 30 percent finds its way to the proper receptacle.

Join Pennsylvania Resources Council in celebrating America Recycles Day — Wednesday, Nov. 15 — by taking part in a free 60-minute webinar providing practical tips for simplifying your life.

“America Recycles Day reminds us that we have opportunities to improve our world every day – wasting less, reusing, and recycling,” according to PRC Executive Director Darren Spielman. “PRC is proud to help Pennsylvanians become environmental stewards by teaching government, businesses, and residents to waste less each day.”

The free Recycling & Waste Reduction webinar takes place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15.  Advance registration is required by Nov. 14.

“An average person creates 4.4 pounds of waste each day, but there are easy ways to reduce this number and to recycle much of what we can’t avoid wasting,” said Spielman.  “During the webinar, PRC’s recycling expert will discuss curbside collection, hard-to-recycle materials, pharmaceutical disposal, and then encourage participants to ask questions during the Q&A session.”
