DEP Invites Comments On Proposed Stronghold Digital Mining Direct Air Carbon Capture Project At Scrubgrass Plant Site In Venango County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the May 25 PA Bulletin inviting comments on a Scrubgrass Reclamation Company LP [Stronghold Digital Mining, Inc.] beneficial use of coal ash waste permit for a project to construct a direct air capture of carbon dioxide facility at the Scrubgrass waste coal power plant located in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.  (PA Bulletin, page 2852)

DEP noted the original coal ash waste permit submitted in November 2022 was for a structural fill project supporting the installation of solar energy panels.  Read more here.

A 60 day comment period is now open.
