On June 21, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation urged Pennsylvania lawmakers to reinvest in the Clean Streams Fund as part of the 2024-25 state budget and encouraged citizens to contact their House and Senate members to support clean water.

In 2022, the $220 million Clean Streams Fund was created to help tackle the top three sources of stream pollution in the Commonwealth: certain agricultural activities, acid mine drainage, and urban/suburban stormwater runoff.

Programs within the Clean Streams Fund, particularly the Agriculture Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP), have been wildly successful and are almost out of resources.

This program helps farms adopt critical conservation practices.

Most of this funding is now committed at a faster rate than anticipated.

Legislators now have the opportunity to prioritize local clean water as well as our Pennsylvania farms and now it’s time to amplify our progress by supporting dedicated funding for the Clean Streams Fund during this budget.
